Fall Internships - The office of Congressman Anh “Joseph” Cao (R-LA) currently has openings for Fall Internships in the Washington, D.C. office. The internship will provide college graduates and current students with the opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the workings of a Congressional office and knowledge of the legislative process. Responsibilities include answering phones, greeting visitors in the front office, organizing and distributing mail, managing tour requests of the Capitol and other government facilities, and assisting legislative staff in research and writing projects. Fall Internship - Congressman Erik Paulsen’s office is currently accepting applications for unpaid internships in the District office in Eden Prairie, MN and in Washington, D.C. for the Fall semester. A Congressional internship offers applicants an exciting opportunity to support staff while learning about the daily operations of the Legislative branch. Interns will assist the staff with constituent services, communications, administrative tasks, and legislative research. Congressman Paulsen’s Internship Program is designed primarily for the educational benefit of the participant. Interns working in the District Office have the opportunity to contribute to the office’s interaction with the surrounding community through constituent services, local events, and community meetings. Interns in the Washington, D.C. Office will gain insight into the federal government and the legislative process by working closely with staff and attending hearings and briefings. Duties include answering telephones and greeting visitors, collecting constituent information, researching legislation and policy issues, drafting policy updates, attending briefings and hearings, and assisting communications, administrative and legislative staff. Must be highly motivated, self-starter, detail oriented, and possess excellent organizational and communication skills, a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and have the ability to manage multiple tasks on a deadline. Internship - A Midwestern Republican is currently seeking internship applicants with a good work ethic to start immediately for the fall semester. This internship provides an opportunity to observe and interact with the inner-workings of a Congressional office, as well as provide learning opportunities though attending hearings, briefings, conducting tours of the Capitol, and assisting office staff with various duties and projects. Full-time interns will receive a one-time stipend of $500 at the end of the internship. Interns - The office of Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) is seeking qualified interns for an unpaid internship in the fall. The internship will provide college graduates and current students with the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in the workings of a Congressional office and knowledge of the legislative process. In addition to supporting the legislative staff interns will guide Capitol tours, attend legislative briefings, conduct research, and be responsible for various administrative duties. Candidates should be highly motivated, have excellent verbal and written skills, be organized and a team player. Washington State ties are a plus but are not required. Unpaid Interns - Congressman Dan Burton (R-IN) is currently seeking unpaid interns for his D.C. office during the Fall and Winter of 2010/11. Primary responsibilities include staffing the front desk, answering phones, directly dealing with constituents, handling flag and tour requests, assisting with incoming mail, working with legislative staff on special projects and assisting them by attending hearings or briefings, and carrying out various other office duties. Interns will also conduct personal tours within the U.S. Capitol complex. They are expected to learn office procedures quickly and assume the responsibility of keeping up with the day-to-day needs of the office. Congressman Burton’s dual role as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on the Middle East and South Asia and as Former Chairman and Senior Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government reform allows interns to meet and greet other Members of Congress as well as foreign leaders and policy experts when they come into the office for meetings with the Member and staff.
