Ahmadinejad Proclaims The Annointed One is Soon to Appear

Much attention has been given to yesterday's remarks of Iranian President Ahmadinejad to the United Nations General Assembly.

I applaud the delegations from the countries who walked out on this man and left him to a near half empty chamber.

But I want to use his speech as an opportunity to point out a key belief Ahmadinejad holds that is shared by millions if not billions of people around the globe. His belief in the appearance of the 12th Imam.
Most Americans are not aware of this belief, so allow me to share it with you.
Following is a direct transcript of the closing paragraph of Ahmadinejad's remarks yesterday. I remind you, these remarks were made to the General Assembly of the United Nations, and broadcast live on CNN to a worldwide audience. I have marked in bold type key words and phrases:
"My Friends, Fortuitously, opportunities are accessible. With the grace of God Almighty, the existing pillars of the oppressive system are crumbling. Great developments in favor of humankind as well as its true and real rights are on the way. A golden and brilliant future is awaiting mankind. A global community filled with justice, friendship, brotherhood and welfare is at hand, as I have elaborated. A community which will tread the path of beauty and love under the rule of the righteous and perfect human being, the One promised by all divine prophets and the One who is the true lover of humanity. A community that will be devoid of any fear, despair and privation. Such a community will soon be ours. The community promised by the great divine Prophets Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus Christ and Mohammad (PBUH) is about to materialize. Let us, hand in hand, expand the thought of resistance against evil and the minority of those who are ill-wishers. Let's support goodness and the majority of people who are good and the embodiment of absolute good that is the Imam of Time, The Promised One who will come accompanied by Jesus Christ, and accordingly design and implement the just and humanistic mechanisms for regulating the constructive relationships between nations and governments. Oh great Almighty, deliver the savior of nations and put an end to the sufferings of mankind and bring forth justice, beauty, and love. Friends; Lets have a proper share in the establishment of that illuminated and promised divine age."

Ahadinejad believes that the end times of the world are near. He wants to have as he says, a "proper share in the establishment" of the return of this new era of the world.
He believes that the Promised One, is coming soon.
This promised one is none other than the 12th Imam. The concept of the 12th Imam is based on the Shia Muslim belief that the Quran teaches of the return of Muhammad al-Mahdi, a man born in the year 869 (A.D.) but whom they claim did not die, will return to earth to usher in an era of peace and Islamic rule. There are many titles given to the 12th Imam. He is called the Guided One, The Rising One, the Awaited One, and on and on.

What is most important to know is that most believers in the return of the 12th Imam, believe that he will appear on the world scene in a time of world chaos and civil war. This is what you need to know.
Ahmadinejad is trying his best to build a nuclear weapon's program, and by some estimates might only be months away from completion.
Ahmadinejad has vowed to "wipe Israel off the face of the earth."

Ahmadinejad believes a world in chaos will usher in the arrival of the 12th Imam.

A nuclear attack on Israel would cause a world in chaos.

Ahmadinejad told the world yesterday that he believes the arrival date for the Anointed One is soon.
Got it?

I just wanted to make sure you understood what he was really saying.

Interview with Congressman Kevin McCarthy

Last week, I sat down on a couple occasions with US Representative Kevin McCarthy. Kevin represents the 22nd District of California in the Congress and serves as the Chief Deputy Whip for the Republicans in the House under the leadership of Whip Eric Cantor. You will recall that we interviewed Eric a couple months ago for this blog.

Both Eric and Kevin are members of a group called "Young Guns," and our conversation dealt mainly with this entity, its goals and the progress that is being made in meeting those goals.

Kevin was in town stumping for my boss's re-election campaign.

If you are not yet familiar with Kevin, my bet is you will be in the years to come.

He is most impressive in his approach to politics and to Republican efforts to take back control of the Congress.

In November of 2008, Newsweek magazine called McCarthy one of the GOP's "most persuasive compelling members." Roll Call newspaper named him the 110th Congress' "Rookie of the Year," and the Weekly Standard dubbed him "the strategist" behind the young guns movement in the House GOP.

An entrepreneur prior to coming to Congress, before his 21st birthday, Kevin started and sold a deli business. That respect for the free enterprise system is evident in his talks and speeches today.

Kevin and his wife, Judy, have two children and Kevin travels home each weekend to California (a 13 hour flight ordeal).

In my conversations with Kevin, I was struck by his Gingrich-like quality of methodically planning the logistics and strategy behind otherwise routine party building activities. Activities like candidate recruitment.

In addition to his duties as an elected official, Kevin is the appointed Recruitment Chairman for the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) and when we spoke, he had just completed a recruitment tour that took him from Illinois to Iowa, to NC and then on to Tennessee. This was his second such whirlwind recruitment effort in recent months and he shared his passion for recruiting quality "fresh faces" from around the country to run for Congress.

To assist in the formerly ad hoc candidate recruitment process, Kevin set up up a three step process whereby potential candidates are identified and groomed to advance to full blown candidate status for office. Each step comes with a designation: The first is the "On the Radar" candidate, the second is the "Contender" candidate and the final and strongest designation is the "Young Gun." This designation process is fluid and a potential candidate can move from one designation to the other. The goal is to find fresh faced people, identify them and get their interest in running (On the Radar), work with their strategy and fundraising goals to achieve a certain level of credibility (Contender) and then assist them with the resources they need to go full blown into the campaign as the Republican front runner (Young Gun).

Over 80 seats are currently targeted nationwide by the Young Guns and 53 already have qualified Republican candidates identified and in the process of setting up their races.

This is good news for us Republicans. The level of planning and strategy I saw in Kevin, and Eric Cantor when he was down earlier in the year, encourages me that we are in good hands and have a chance to take back the House over time.

I was equally impressed with Kevin's embrace of technology and he shared with me some of the activities he is involved with in terms of transitioning the Republican members into this arena. By the way, be on the lookout for a Young Guns website in the very near future. Think of a Conservative version of ActBlue. Stay tuned.

I would not be surprised if Kevin is the new GOP Whip one day or higher. If you don't know him now, you will one day.

Sue Myrick Gives National Republican Response to President Obama's Weekly Radio Address

Sue Myrick was selected to give the Republican response to President Obama's Weekly Radio address. Picked up this morning by the LA Times, AP nationwide, Wall Street Journal, etc. Here is the link to her remarks.

NC To Train Illegals To Compete Against US Citizens

You probably saw by now that yesterday the NC Community College Board voted to allow illegal immigrants to attend our community colleges.

The board voted 20 to 1 in favor of this new policy.

I oppose this move and thought that our Governor did too, as she openly campaigned against the community college doing exactly this action. Oh well, say one thing, do another, what's new?

The board tried to nuance their decision by putting certain criteria in place.

First, the illegal immigrant can go to community college if they first graduated from a NC high school. Second, they can only register after all legal residents register to ensure they are not taking the seat of a legal resident, and third they have to pay out of state tuition.

I don't know about you, but these three safeguards, do nothing to persuade me that this is a good decision.

First, by stipulating that our community colleges are only open to illegals who first graduate from a NC high school, the state is incentivizing illegals to enroll in our high schools. This is especially true since our neighbor in SC expressly outlaws illegals enrolling in their college system.

Second, the community college system was set up to provide the education and training necessary for our American workforce to be prepared to compete in the global economy. If we are letting in illegal aliens, who are here "illegally" hence the name "illegal alien", then isn't the state actually training illegals to compete against our own American citizens for jobs that are precious in today's world? You bet they are!

Finally, what part of illegal does the board not get? There was a time in our country when people did what was right, for no other reason than because it was right. Immigration is a federal issue, and yes our federal government has failed miserably at it. I understand that, but on behalf of those of us who have not given up the fight, shame on you NC for throwing in the towel.

And just so we are clear, there are 21 members on the community college board, 10 are appointed by the Governor(D). The LT Governor (D) sits on the board, as does the State Treasurer (D). One student from the NC Student Government Association serves and the rest are appointed by the state house (D) and state senate (D).

What a difference a Republican Governor would have made.

PS -- Thanks Lt. Governor Walter Dalton for being the one board member to vote against this policy.

PSS-- Thanks Sue Myrick for introducing a bill in Congress that would strip all federal funds of any community college system that willfully admits illegal aliens.

To Jihad or Not to Jihad?... that is the question.

With September 11th just passed, I think it a fair question to ask, have we learned anything about our enemies since that tragic day? Here's a question. A simple one, but one that many people have a hard time answering correctly. With whom are we fighting? Who is our enemy? Is it Al-Quada? Is is Hamas? Is is Hezbollah? Is it some other group, individual, or entity? Do you know? Ask 100 Americans this question, and I bet you get 100 different answers.

One reason there is no clarity of thought as to our enemy, is because your elected leadership in the White House and the Capitol Building have not properly informed the American public of the dangers we face and the enemy that is before us.

Bush took us to war in two theaters of war, but never took us into the war of ideas. The war behind the war.

The ultimate goal of our enemies is the destruction of western civilization, the replacement of our Constitutional form of government, the creation of an Islamic state under the rule of a Caliphate and the implementation of Sharia Law. Are you aware of that fact?

This Islamist enemy self identifies themselves as jihadists. They are followers of a strict interpretation of Islam and Sharia Law.

Do you know what the term Sharia Law means? Do you knows its basic tenets? If I say the word "Abrogation" to you in the context of the Quran, would you understand its meaning? Do you know the word "jihad" has two meanings? Ever heard the term Wahhabi?

If you answered NO to any and all of the above questions, then it proves the point that 8 years after 9/11, we as a country are no closer to understanding the threat we are faced with than we were back then.

Please read the attached letter from US Rep. Sue Myrick to President Obama. We sent it this week. Please start following this issue. The changes that this Administration is implementing in terms of our efforts to fight terrorism head on are dangerous and reckless.

http://www.investigativeproject.org/documents/misc/295.pdf

I am still planning on writing a series on the rise of radical Islam, as I posted about earlier this summer. Check back for more updates soon.

Mr. President. Stop Talking. Start Listening.

Last night we heard President Obama give a speech. He is a very gifted orator, no doubt. He had a prime time audience, a hot microphone and a teleprompter... what more could Obama want?

A week prior to him giving the speech, my boss, US Rep. Sue Myrick, wrote the President and asked him to not give a speech during the joint session of Congress, but rather make a bold move and preside over a town hall meeting type session of Congress where one by one, members of Congress could ask the President for clarification on key issues in the bill and share with him the thoughts and concerns they had heard from their constituents during August recess.

The President could take a question or comment from one side of the aisle, and then move to the other side, and then back again, and so on and so on. This would be a bold move, because the President would have to think on his feet. He would not have a teleprompter to read his scripted verse. In order to answer the probing and no doubt tough questions he would get from the Congress, he would have to know the bill inside and out. He would conduct such a meeting LIVE, with no editing, no pre-production, no nothing... just democracy... kind of a Obama Unplugged type thing.

Needless to say, the President did not take us up on our offer. For the record, he didn't even respond. Instead he gave a speech. A partisan speech. He started off his remarks by looking not to the future but to the past, as he did several times during the night. Finding areas to nip at the prior Bush administration. I wonder how long he can get away with blaming Bush for everything under the sun. With his liberal base, probably 4 full years. But with middle America, not much longer. Don't get me wrong, I didn't much care for the Bush Administration. But they've been gone for awhile now, and the President should stop shadow boxing with the past and start defending his own mismanagement problems. Van Jones? Hello, is there a Communist in the House? AIG, Auto bailout, second bank bailout, $787 Billion Stimulus bill, Cap and Trade, 44 Czars and counting and now a march to Socialized medicine.... This is on your watch Obama. Wake up.

So as he spoke last night I could not help but contrast his speech, with my boss's recent town hall meetings. In his speech, Obama stood with a scripted and rehearsed telepromter-supported speech for about an hour, took no questions, and seemed shocked when someone yelled out a contrasting view.

Sue Myrick on the other hand stood for 4 and a half hours each night for three consecutive nights, a combined 13.5 hours of standing in front of a live audience that ranged from 2000 one night to 900 on the last night. There was no teleprompter, no speech. In preparations for the meetings, she read the 1,000 plus page bill and she took EVERY question, from every participant every night. No exceptions. We did not screen people, we did not take RSVPs or anything that even gave the appearance of screening people. Just unedited democracy, from a woman who believes it her duty to do so. Sue had people yell at her numerous times over three nights. She took it in stride. Sometimes tempers flair. That's politics. But she listened. Get it? She listened to the people. She works for them. They don't work for her.

Contrast that to President Obama slapping his chest and telling us that he wants to be the last President to tackle Health care reform. As if, whatever he gets passed with his imprimatur of finality, the stamp of Obama, the end all be all, the omega in the alpha equation... will end our health care troubles forever and ever, amen. Give me a break. What an ego.

Obama said several times last night in a rhetorical way... "This is not what we came here..." Remember that line? I didn't count how many times he said it, but it was several, and usually at the tail end of a liturgy he had built up and was hoping for an applause response. I do not doubt the President is a smart man, and I respect the office he holds. But I do not believe he is qualified to make a statement alluding to the motivations and desires of why members of Congress came to Washington. What do I mean by that? Simple. There is a hell of a difference between why Sue Myrick came to Washington in the Gingrich lead Republican Revolution and why say Nancy Pelosi or even the President himself, came to Washington. Totally different motivations. Totally different game plans. Totally different world views. I don't need Obama clumping us all together as some monolithic piece of clay that he the President can mold to his agenda. "That is not why we came here..." Give me a break, try asking us why we came here for a change. You might learn something Mr. President.

And about this bickering stuff. The President implied that those who disagreed with this bill are just nay sayers and wanting to bicker, I think that was the word he used. At what point is disagreeing bickering? At what point, can a member of congress say "I disagree", without the President, his team in Congress or the major media outlets calling them a naysayer? HR 3200 was written without Republican input. Not because we didn't want to help, but because we were shut out of the process. At what point do we get to speak our peace? At what point do we get to ask our questions or give our input? Ever? What are the Democrats in Congress and the President so scared of? Our questions? Our input? And Pelosi what is she afraid of? When a member of Congress is scared of their own constituency or can't tell the difference between the populace rising up in defence of their country and the Nazi party (remember that statement?) then its time for that member to leave office. Plain and Simple. A leader without a following is just out taking a walk.

Rep. Wilson should not have yelled at the President. Not because of what he said, but because, like it or not, the President is the leader of the free world and deserves respect. If you disagree with giving him, personally, respect, then give it to the office he holds. It was there before him, and will be there when he is gone.

However, was Rep. Wilson right? The President told the American audience with a straight face that illegal aliens would not get health care coverage under his plan. In fact, he ridiculed the other side (Republicans) for using it as a point of contention on the bill (IE -- see bickering). I guess it depends on what the meaning of "is" is. Remember that? Thought you were getting change with this President didn't you. Wrong. You just got a liberal.

The President can truthfully tell you the bill does not give illegals health care. HR 3200 expressly says that illegals will NOT get health care. But wait. Here is what the President did not tell you. Here is what caused Rep. Wilson to yell out. Here is why the whole Republican caucus was mumbling audibly during that section of the President's speech. Ready? Here is the truth. When HR 3200 came through committee, the Republican members took the line in the bill saying that no illegals would get health care, and attached to it language that would require the government to legally require proof of citizenship before health care would be administered. Specifically they wanted the E-Verify system currently available for businesses to screen for illegals to be used in health care. That amendment was not accepted in the bill. It was shot down by the Democrat majority. So, now if the bill becomes law, even if the bill says illegals won't get health care, they will. Why? Because the hospital that asks for proof of citizenship will be sued for profiling or discrimination and therefore illegals will get care. End of discussion. Sound familiar? Go to the emergency room today. Same system is in place. The President knows all this. Did he lie? You decide.

Did you also pick up the change in statistics used last night? For weeks on the stump and on TV, President Obama has been saying we need health care reform for the 47 million people who are currently uninsured. 47 million is the key number to remember. He said it three times in August alone in response to the town hall meeting protests. Last night however, he used the phrase "30 million Americans who need health care." Got it? Did you see the smoke and mirror? Throughout his campaign for President, and even mere days before this televised speech, he has been saying we need health care for 47 million uninsured people and now in the face of people (IE- Republicans) saying he wants to give health care to illegals, he changes the stat to 30 million Americans. Wonder where those 17 million other people went? Note: They didn't go anywhere. They are still there. Waiting for this plan to go through. The President just can't mention them anymore, because he knows we will tell you the true American public all about it.

The President last night said that if you like your current health care plan, you can keep it. He walked us through the process whereby all employers will be required to provide coverage for their employees or pay a 8% penalty (IE -- see tax). Sounds simple. Right?

Here is where Obama is misleading you. Most businesses are paying 16% to 25% in payroll just for health care. Get that? If I own a business and I am paying 16% in payroll just to cover health care, and Obama comes along with a mandate to provide coverage or pay an 8% penalty what am I going to do? I'm going to drop the coverage of my employees, pay the 8% penalty and save 8%. Got it? That is why Republicans are correct when they say this bill will cause you to lose your coverage. You will. Obama thinks the 8% penalty will encourage a business to provide insurance. He is wrong. It will incentivize them to drop it. We are right.

See why we needed to have a chance to ask questions last night? Imagine how much progress we could have made if we just laid it all on the table and hashed it out. Instead, we got a speech.

Photos of Elkin, North Carolina

I took the following photos of Elkin while I was there over Labor Day. For those of you from Elkin, please check back for my open letter to the town coming out later this week.
My visit this weekend saddened me. I can not believe the lack of vision that has allowed the town to dry up. I know the demise of the textile industry has caused many challenges for small southern towns like Elkin, but Elkin has a lot to offer and I am shocked and appalled that the town has not endeavored to change course. There are so many actions the town should and could do to position itself for an upturn.
As a former Elkin resident and one who returns regularly to visit, my letter will offer several suggestions for action by the town. I hope you will check back and read it and give me your feedback.
Who knows, maybe we can solve some of these problems.

Myrick to Obama: Come to Congress to Listen, Not Talk.

Sue Myrick today wrote President Obama, asking him to cancel the speech he plans to give to a joint session of Congress on September 9th, and instead preside over a town hall meeting style event where he listens to members of Congress tell him what they heard from their constituents over the August recess.

In other words, come to Congress to listen, rather than to talk. Following is the link containing the letter Sue sent the President: http://www.myrick.house.gov/Letter%20to%20President%20on%20Joint%20Session%20of%20Congress.pdf

Young Gun to Stump for Sue Myrick

The Weathervane is pleased to announce that US Rep. Kevin McCarthy will be in Charlotte on September 14th stumping for Sue. While in town, Kevin has agreed to be interviewed for this blog. We are big fans of Kevin, and look forward to discussing the future of the Republican party with him.

If you are not yet familiar with Kevin, he represents California's 22nd district in Congress and serves as Chief Deputy Republican Whip under Rep. Eric Canter whom the Weathervane interviewed earlier this year.

Kevin is one of the leaders of the Young Gun movement in Congress, helping to recruit fresh young faces to run for Congress.

Gaston Memorial Hospital Doctor's Round Table

Last week, Sue met with and fielded questions about health care reform from doctors at Gaston Memorial Hospital. While a couple expressed support for a public health plan similar to what President Obama is offering, the vast majority who spoke up were not in favor of a public plan and were huge advocates for tort reform.
