Duties include, but are not limited to, constituent correspondences, attendance at briefings, hearings, and meetings, assistance with legislative research, and aiding staff-members with various projects. The ideal candidate will be hard-working, detail-oriented, and professional . Strong oral and written communication skills are highly valued. This position assists in managing office functions, maintains office equipment, furniture, supplies, and filing systems. Assists with speech preparation, generates EORs, and works with graphics department. Processes large volume of tour and flag requests; staffs the front reception area, greets visitors and answers telephones; oversees Intern and Page program. Applicant must be extremely organized, a proficient editor, able to multi-task and is a self-motivated problem solver. Fall interns - Congressman Tim Murphy (PA-18) is currently accepting applications from current college students or recent college graduates wishing to gain experience in a fast-paced office for a full-time or part-time fall semester internship. We are seeking applicants with strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and a high degree of professionalism. In addition to supporting the legislative and administrative staff with day-to-day activities, interns will conduct Capitol tours, attend legislative briefings, assist with constituent calls and requests, process incoming mail, and conduct legislative research. The internship is unpaid, but students will have an opportunity to earn college credit and gain valuable Capitol Hill experience. Pennsylvania and district ties are preferred but not required. Internship - Congressman Steve Austria (OH-7) is currently seeking interns for the fall 2010 semester for his Washington, DC, Springfield and Lancaster offices. This internship will provide students with the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in a Congressional office and a greater understanding of the legislative process. Intern responsibilities generally include answering phones, logging and drafting constituent correspondence, and aiding staff with various projects. Intern duties in the Washington, DC office also include scheduling and conducting tours of the U.S. Capitol building, and attending briefings and hearings. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and possess strong written and oral communications skills. Ohio ties are preferred, but not required.
