Job Lead in North Carolina

A friend of mine is a headhunter and sends me leads from time to time to pass along. For those of you in the financial services field, the following job is for a Director of Compliance at a subsidiary of Yadkin Valley Bank. The job is located in Greenville, NC. For what it is worth, I thought I would post it, as I know times are tough and leads are slim. Good luck.

Sidus Financial
Director, Compliance
Greenville, NC

Conway & Greenwood has been retained by Sidus Financial to manage the search for its Director, Compliance located in its home office in Greenville, NC.

Sidus Financial LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Yadkin Valley Bank and Trust. Sidus is based in Greenville, NC and has regional offices in Easley, SC, Richmond, VA, and Bedford, NH. Reverse mortgages are offered through its Hickory, NC office. Even through the challenging mortgage markets, Sidus origination volumes have gained steadily each year and are projected at $1.65 Billion for 2009. Sidus is primarily a wholesale mortgage banker that originates high quality mortgages. It is licensed in twenty states and specializes in community bank clients.

Sidus operations are based in Greenville, NC and is known for its high quality of loans, financial strength, a strong culture of customer service, and its well regarded professional staff. For additional information, please visit http://www.sidusfinancial.com/.

Yadkin Valley Bank is based in Elkin, NC and has offices in South Carolina, Charlotte, Durham, Boone, and Wilmington. It recently merged with American Community Bank in Charlotte. Other mergers include Cardinal State Bank in Durham, Piedmont Bank in Statesville and High Country Bank in Boone. The bank has assets of over $2B and its performance compares very favorably to its peers.

The Director, Compliance is responsible for leading the company-wide compliance and for reporting the results to the many state and federal regulators. This is a proactive role that requires solid experience working in a regulated production environment. Candidates with multi-state experience and industry expertise are preferred. Knowledge from a banking and mortgage lending perspective is most desirable.

The Director, Compliance will work closely with the regional production managers. This requires the right balance of a production team member and the company authority. He/she will work closely with the production staff to ensure that everyone is onboard and to ensure that the regulations are met. Therefore, the position requires both excellent interpersonal/communication skills together with strong organization/detailed skills.

The position reports to the EVP, CFO and works closely with all home office staff. The culture is a very tight knit, “family” type environment, where all the employees give 100% to support their counterparts and meet the company goals. The candidate must work extremely well with wholesale managers, retail loan officers, underwriters, closing/shipping and secondary marketing.

He/she will also work closely with counterparts at the bank/parent. The bank’s retail production accounts for about 15% of the company’s total volume.

The position allows for the candidate to shape the Compliance function within Sidus and be recognized as the leader internally and externally. He/she will manage and perform the duties across functional lines and thus the personality of the candidate needs to be someone that does not require constant direction but can jump into the production flow and get things accomplished on demanding schedules.

Compensation will be considered in a range “commensurate with prior experience” so that all interested and well matched candidates are encouraged to apply. Certainly also, candidates will recognize the desirability to join a growing, stable and secure company in this unprecedented economy and its desirable and lower cost location. Candidates that value these will appreciate that the compensation range will be somewhat lower than the national averages for higher cost locations.

Greenville, NC offers an excellent quality of life and a lower cost of living. The population of the city and county is greater than 140,000; but is also a college town, as ECU has over 28,000 and an exceptional Medical Center. This also ensures great sporting events; as football fills the 43,000 capacity stadium. Another excellent draw is how close it is to so many of NC’s coastal communities. Both the beach and river/sound communities offer easy access for weekend activities. In addition, the NC or VA mountains are close enough for a weekend of skiing in the winter or a cool break in the summer. Greenville is 85 miles east of Raleigh and 265 miles south of Washington, DC. Relocation assistance is available.

Candidates must possess superior qualifications and integrity. Please direct all inquires to Paul Conway at (919) 833-4800 or e-mail pconway@conwaygreenwood.com . All inquiries will be handled in a confidential manner.
