Unpaid DC Internship - Senate Republican Conference seeks undergraduate students or recent graduates for January-May 2010 to assist professional staff. Responsibilities include conducting research, assisting with press events, and strategically thinking with staff members regarding different governmental issues. Candidates should possess strong writing and research skills. Prior political experience is preferred; Spanish fluency a plus. Only full-time internships are available. Unpaid Interns - Republican Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) is seeking unpaid interns for the Fall of 2009. Candidates should have an interest in public policy. Interns will have the opportunity to attend committee hearings and briefings for staff members, assist in the constituent correspondence process, as well as assist with other constituent services. Responsibilities include: taking phone calls, processing constituent mail, and performing other general office duties. Applicants should be interested in the legislative process, enthusiastic, reliable, and hard-working. Full or part time internships with flexible schedules are available. Internship - Congressman Jerry Moran (KS-01) is seeking full-time paid interns for the remainder of the fall semester with the potential of serving in Spring 2010. Paid interns would be responsible for assisting legislative staff with various projects, including legislative research, responding to constituent requests, guiding tours of the U.S. Capitol, compiling news clips, updating the web site, attending hearings and briefings, and assisting with general office duties. Interns will be paid the maximum amount allowed by the House of Representatives and may also receive transportation benefits. Press Secretary - Midwestern Republican seeks proactive Press Secretary. Responsibilities would include developing and implementing overall communications strategy; pitching stories nationally and locally in a large open media market; writing press releases, statements, op-eds, email updates and newsletters; planning press events; and helping to manage website and email program. Ideal Candidates will have impeccable writing skills, strong political instincts, and 3+ years of Hill experience. Legislative Director - South Carolina Republican Congressman seeks Legislative Director to serve as chief legislative advisor and staff Member on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Ideal candidate will be current/former LD or Senior LA with solid experience with transportation and Army Corps issues. Applicants must be team players and capable of providing their experienced policy and political insight into all parts of the office, including press, constituent outreach, and new media. Position also involves managing overall constituent correspondence system, including outreach mailings. Scheduler responsibilities include processing all scheduling requests, coordinating Member travel and expense reimbursement, and working with the Chief of Staff and Member to make sure the daily schedule is both efficient and effective. Ideal candidate must have exceptional communication and organizational skills and be willing and able to adapt to get the job done in a stressful environment. Scheduling in this Senior Republican’s office is done through Microsoft Outlook. Hill or other scheduling experience is a major plus and Southern ties are preferred but not required.
